This package contains the textures only - you MUST have the L-188 Base Pack installed to fly this plane!

****************************************************************************
Installation:

Quit FS if it is running before installation.

1. Double click this file archive to open it. You will find this text file and a file called Setup.exe.

2. Double click the Setup.exe file to start the installation. Press the Run button at the warning screen. If it doesn't find your main FS2004 folder automatically, press the ... button and browse to it. If you are installing into FSX it will NOT find your main FSX folder. Press the ... button and browse to it. Copy the texture folder inside the FSX/Aircraft folder into the corresponding folder in FSX/SimObjects/Airplanes.

3. If you don't know how to edit text files, see the bottom of this section. Copy the following section and paste into the Base Pack's aircraft.cfg file, at the end of the existing livery sections.

Into the aircraft.cfg file in the L188C Electra JL folder:

description=This is the high gross weight L-188C version. It was the earlier L-188A Electra that introduced second generation turboprop engines, which never vary RPM in flight, to commercial aviation thereby delivering simplified 'thrust lever' control. The L-188A entered scheduled service with EAL and AAL in January 1959, but three quickly suffered structural failure, all orders ceased, and production ended in 1960. 4. You will need to re-number the fltsim line of your new livery. They should be listed in numerical order. If the last fltsim entry is [fltsim.0], your livery's entry should be [fltsim.1]. If it is [fltsim.5], renumber yours to [fltsim.6]. If it is a different number, renumber your livery's fltsim line to one higher than that.

5a. In My Computer or Windows Explorer, go to your FS2004/Aircraft or FSX/SimObjects/Airplanes folder. If you find a different Air California L-188 folder you should remove it if for the same livery:

5b. If a Removed folder is not already present, create a new folder within this folder (right click a blank area of the right panel, choose New/Folder). Name it Removed.

5c. MOVE the old Air California L-188's folder (if present) to the Removed folder (right click on the plane's folder, choose Cut, right click on the Removed Folder and choose Paste). DO NOT REMOVE the L188A/C Electra CB/JL/LG folders (a total of 6 folders) if present!

After installation of all the files, start FS2004 and the plane will appear in the Select Aircraft menu.

NOTE: If you do not know how to open and edit a cfg file, here are instructions:

a. In the Base Pack plane's folder, if you only see a file called aircraft with a type of CFG (when viewing the folder using My Computer or Windows Explorer), choose Tools/Folder Options from the menu, click the View tab, and uncheck the box "Hide Extensions for known file types". Click OK.

b. Double click the aircraft.cfg file in My Computer or Windows Explorer to open it. If it asks what program you want to use to open this file, choose Wordpad from the list. Notepad is also acceptable.

c. To select a line for copying, drag the mouse across the line, from left to right. It should become highlighted. Choose Edit/Copy.

d. If pasting this copied text into another file, open that file by double clicking it.
   i. If you are not replacing any text in the new file (i.e. adding a new livery section, etc.), click where you want the new text to be placed, and choose Edit/Paste.
ii. If you are replacing text in the new file (or within the same file)(i.e. replacing the sim= line of the new livery's section with the sim= line of the top livery section), select the text to be replaced by dragging the mouse, as above. Choose Edit/Paste and the copied text will replace the original text.
